Greenpeace chief climbs oil rig to protest against Arctic drilling on Friday.
Greenpeace forces British firm to shut down Arctic oil rig: Activists chain themselves 50ft above freezing ocean.
Sim McKenna, from the US, who is one of the climbers, said: ‘We’ve got to keep the energy companies out of the Arctic and kick our addiction to oil, that’s why we’re going to stop this rig from drilling for as long as we can.
‘The BP Gulf oil disaster showed us it’s time to go beyond oil. ‘The drilling rig we’re hanging off could spark an Arctic oil rush, one that would pose a huge threat to the climate and put this fragile environment at risk.’ The breach triggered an automatic shutdown of the rig’s operations. The activists are still on the rig and will be arrested, said police spokesman Morten Nielsen. ‘When someone breaks the law – and it has happened here – the person or persons will be prosecuted,’ Nielsen said by telephone from Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.

The amazing thing is that it is precisely upon facing adverse situations
that many rediscover the best in themselves.
Ethics, friendship, the capability to create new strategies based on experience.
The talents to promote positive alliances.
The spirit of leadership.
The awareness of the strength that resides in true teamwork.
All this comes to the forum when required by circumstances when one knows there is an important ultimate goal.
Naturally it’s not easy to give up habits, customs,
it’s not easy to adapt to new environments or employ resources we are not familiar with,
but all warriors know that pessimism and uncertainty hold one back at moments like this.
Even if the threat comes from many sides, with agility strength and determination,
we can achieve our goals.
A combination of energy and intelligence as well as a balance between emotion and reason
are essential to success.
It is a most satisfying feeling to reach the end of a task with a feeling of duty fulfilled and receive the accolades and respect of all our colleges,
the admiration of the people we love,
to hear our names spoken with pride,
The pride of having seen the obstacles, the opportunity of growth,
The pride of having seen life’s ups and downs and win.
The pride of being a winner who did not give up fundamental values.

We took the sphere out to TED 2010 ‘Innovation Lounge’, loaded with a series of four unique applications, Voronoi, Fluids, Drip and Flow Field.
Each year we take a morning to sit down and remember what it is we do. Usually around the first week of May when spring is in full swing in New York and the seasonal temperature is truly wonderful. We honour this charter, not in a sappy way but in a ‘raise your glass and salute the whisky gods’ that oversee design for good blessings. Thanks to all our clients, friends, family and loved ones for putting up with us (family especially know the long hours and dedication).

NYTimes reports in the article “Is All That Sitting Really Killing Us?” the associated heath risks of sitting down for long stretches. It takes courage to stand up at work. I’m not talking about sticking your neck out, speaking truth to power or anything else so dramatic. I mean it literally; it is hard to find a way to work standing up at your desk instead of sitting down.
I know this because I’ve spent several weeks trying to find the perfect way to work at my computer without a chair. (It truly feels odd at first, almost like cooking) The search was not quixotic; standing up is in vogue. Medical researchers (seeking out this particular research paper) have found that people who stand at work tend to be much healthier than those who sit, and there’s a large online subculture of stand-up fanatics who swear that getting rid of your chair will change your life. But I wasn’t just looking for better health; standing, I hoped, would also improve how I work.
Several video editors I know stand up, several have resumed an all round better posture by balancing on a yoga ball. In the end, it’s a matter of what you’re prepared to do to experiment with new choices and ideas.
Change is good, it’s a healthly fact.

Our greatest need is understanding bandwidth usage and location analysis. Stats now come alive with this tool. Use it to gain fresh insights by looking at your data and slicing/dicing your web server usage.

Suntory vending machines have emergency levers beneath a sticker on the upper-right corners. Pull the sticker off, pull the lever firmly and you’ll get free drinks.
They built a backdoor into their own vending machines for emergencies and have followed up and gotten the information out there. Free juice for the weary! It was sleeping there the whole time, very Japanese.
