Impossible is Nothing

One of the most humbling and memorable stories from Adidas

One of the greatest TV spots featuring Muhammed Ali with Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Ian Thrope, Haile Gebreselassie and Tracy McGrady.

“Some people listen to themselves, rather than listen to what other say, these people don’t come along very often, but when they do, they remind us that once you set upon a path even though critics may doubt you its okay to believe that there is no can’t, won’t or impossible. They remind us it’s okay to believe, impossible is nothing.”

I like what Ali said in an interview, “Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Real bravura.

  1. As the ‘‘Impossible Is Nothing’’ campaign advanced, it became evident that it was resonating with consumers, and it earned accolades within the marketing arena. The campaign received a Silver EFFIE Award and won a Gold Lion Award at the International Advertising Festival in Cannes, France, and adidas was named the 2004 Marketer of the Year by Footwear News.

Still searching for the director/creative team on this campaign.

  2. Ali is awe-inspiring to the fact that we should never, ever back down from a challenge because someone doubted us or told us that we were too weak, stupid, or incapable of amounting to something. Everyone will always look to downplay your strengths and bring up your weaknesses. You are your only critic; and you’re the only one who can tell you whether you can or cannot.

  3. A pretty cool Adidas ad. I feel like there are so many curveballs thrown at me in my work in television. So many doubters. So many people telling me that I can’t be great at what I do… but I don’t listen to them at all. I believe in myself and my ability. And with that, I know greatness will follow.

    Thank you for sharing!
