Impressive stunt concept. I can’t help but feel that liberal paint ideas are about the only fun one can have with ad’s in these tough times.
EX-1 with Arri matte box
This EX-1 HD camera would have to be one of the nicest additions to any design studio or production company.Talk about pure creative genius with a beautifully small form factor. Very admirable.
It’s an EX-1 HD video camera from Sony which National Geographic incidentally just approved for HD broadcast. Put an Arri matte box on it for a slew of filters and applicable attachments for any commercials shoot. Conversely, it can be stripped down and you could blend into the crowd on a documentary project. I prefer a less auspicious display of hardware personally. It’s about six-seven grand (dollars) plus change for the camera.
Landscape
Marcin Sacha put together a wonderful set of rolling hill images. This one grabbed my attention instantly.
Amazing Sky
Incredible sky over BKLYN/NYC. Clouds were acting weird. Is this a mother nature in-joke, some kind of celebration for the start of summer? Salute.
Mammatus (also known as mammatocumulus, meaning “bumpy clouds”) is a meteorological term applied to a cellular pattern of pouches hanging underneath the base of a cloud. The name “mammatus” is derived from the Latin mamma (udder), due to the clouds’ characteristic shape.
Tank Man
It was Hank Paulson that recently said “”When the situation changes you better be ready to change”. This image should be a reminder that the desire for freedom of individuals is far more powerful that governments believe. The idea that one person can stand up to a row of tanks blows my mind. It sends shivers down my neck.

Hubble Space Telescope
Only image ever taken of a transit of a space shuttle (Atlantis) and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) in front of the Sun, during the last repair mission of Hubble, obtained from Florida at 100 km south of the Kennedy Space Center on May 13th 2009 12:17 local time, several minutes before grapple of Hubble by Atlantis.
Transit duration: 0.8s. Transit bandwidth on Earth: 5.6 km. Altitude: 600 km. Speed: 7 km/s (25000 km/h). Length of Atlantis : 35m, length of Hubble : 13m. Transit forecast (place, time…) calculated by www.calsky.com. Dance of the Spirits
JPG magazine is one of my favorite web projects. Simple online idea with a smartly executed physical magazine. I stumbled across this [amazing] image capturing those elusive Northern Lights. Full credit to Shawn Tan who supplied the necessary brilliance. Wiki have a beautiful example taken in a frozen landscape.
Adventure Awaits
Stumbled upon a striking image on the Guardian site. It’s taken in Bolivia capturing the realism/fragility of a man women deep on a bike adventure. This kind of trip is the ultimate rite of passage. SEE: I’m green with envy —Charlie Boorman and Ewan McGregor style adventure.
The winning shot by Sheonagh Ravensdale: “A spot of bother on the main road between Uyuni and Oruro in Bolivia. A challenging ten hour ride that included 20km on this soft sandy road and several river crossings. But we made it – two women in our fifties on a 15,000 mile ride through South America.”
Caroline Hunter, deputy picture editor of Guardian weekend magazine, said: “I chose this as the winning image as to me it perfectly expresses a certain moment in time, which is what good photography is all about. It’s a candid behind-the-scenes reportage shot that reveals the realism and vulnerability involved in making a road trip when there is only oneself and the challenge of an open road ahead of you, until you reach that picture-perfect location that enticed you to make the trip in the first place.”

It’s often a rather painstaking task getting a collective set of images to feel uniquely ‘unified’ and seemingly ‘united’ all at the same time. I think Kayak did a pretty decent job. Like everything that Kayak does, it’s driven by the needs, voices and behaviors of the users. I’m citing the elegant words of Yung Chun, who’s a director running product for hotels.

Terra Incognita
A limited edition of Terra Incognita was published by Chronicle Books in September 2008 and is available through Richard Sexton’s galleries and select booksellers. The gallery edition includes a linen covered clamshell case and an original signed quadtone pigment print of the cover image. The gallery edition is limited to 200 books.

Photomatix magic
A stunning example of bringing together multiple exposures into one image. This powerful plug-in called Photomatix works within Adobe Lightroom. Photographing a high contrast scene, you know that even the best exposure will typically have blown out highlights and flat shadows. Closely examining the foreground, mid-ground and background and you find it’s well exposed in all three areas. These Photomatix examples offers two ways to increase the dynamic range of your photographs:
› Exposure Blending: Merge differently exposed photographs into one image with increased dynamic range.
› Tone Mapping: Reveal highlight and shadow details in an HDR image created from multiple exposures. The tone mapped image is ready for printing while showing the complete dynamic range captured.
