Cairo is a new gallery on the Hill from the owners/operators of 20/Twenty in Ballard. It’s a small space- the front room devoted to proper gallery exhibitions and the back full of prints, zines, records, local crafts and apparel, and works from previous showcases. (Even further back is space geared specifically for artist residencies, something very few galleries in town are fostering.)

Don’t let the small size fool you- making good use of each wall, nook and cranny, Cairo packs a punch. Along with the 2- and 3-D works available, the curators plan to book bands and host evenings of projected films within the space.

There’s real character within these walls, something that seems more and more rare in new shops in this city; something that will definitely keep me coming back.
